You can do this. You will need to enable "depth of field preview".

Just assign one of the function buttons to "Preview Depth of Field".

To do this:

In the menu, go to "set up" (spanner icon).

then " Button /Dial Setting"

then "Fn/AE-L/AF-L Button Setting"

Then choose the function button you wish to assign and select the option "Preview Depth of Field".

This will act as a toggle turning depth of field preview on and off.

When it is turned on, you will see the focus peaking begin to reflect the increased depth of focus as you stop down the aperture.

This is a great feature.
