1. Is there a significantly better 35mm AF FF lens at this size and price point?

Sure, the 35LII

Much larger and 3 times as much.

Even so, the 35Lii doesn’t have much better bokeh for pines trees in the distance and similar OOF Objects.

It does, and not just with pine trees. I will be blunt - I used several 35mm lenses and reserached a few others. I have never seen such a horrible OOF rendering.

You've been blunt to the point of rudeness throughout this thread. However, being blunt does not make you right.

After PGSanta commented about this lens in an earlier thread, I went out and shot an extremely high contrast scene with the RF 35 and was able to reproduce CA which I cleaned up without any trouble in ACR. On another day, I tried it with the 35Lii. No CA to speak of, but the pine trees in the background were unfortunately about as busy to my eye.

Why don't you post those shots.

BTW, what I posted was awful smearing and PF, not CA. Very strong double lines, too.

They were test shots that I don't normally keep as they aren't artistically pleasing. If you want to search back through the EOS R thread, you can find the ones I posted for the RF 35. I didn't post the 35Lii images because they were taken on a different day with different lighting and therefore, not right for comparison.

Like I said in the beginning, you know more about cameras than I do. I thought PF stood for purple fringing which I took to mean chromatic aberration.

Since you worry and have such strong opinions about these things that others do not seem so concerned about, I assume that you must be an excellent photographer. Unfortunately, your DPR gallery only has test shot stuff. Could you post a link to your website, IG or Flickr? I'd love to see what you are producing.
