I've always just blown dust off the sensor with canned gas. The mewling kittens get pretty worked up and start howling like a queen in heat on a catnip high, but I've not ever had a problem, and I don't expect to ever have one by doing this.

Just use some common sense and don't turn the can upside down and shoot liquid propellent into your camera.

Note, for fun, I did this very thing to an *istD a couple of years ago. There were no ill effects on the camera after the frost melted.

There, that should summarize it.

The wet solution I have is 9 years old. I wouldn't use that either as I don't know if they expire. But I think any current cleaning solution & swab will be fine. If you don't find the lollipop that is. The truth is that I haven't had the need to wet clean the sensor in a long time as the K1 is very good at keeping its sensor dust-free. And the good people that did the upgrade to the K1ii did a thorough cleaning as well.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, although I’m pretty sure Miles is meowing in Greek, because I didn’t understand any of that........;-)

I did also get a chance to discuss this with the owner of a camera store in another town, and he says also that basically any current cleaning product will do the job, BUT the key with Pentaxes is to make sure not to press too hard while cleaning rather just wipe (i.e. no scrubbing). Of course he then managed to also sell me a lens instead of a cleaning kit. Are there any rehabilitation centres for Pentaxians?
