Most certainly.
The SL2 has a DIGIC7 processor which when Canon did the DIGIC6 (which is newer than your T2i) Canon overhauled the JPEG noise reduction engine. The SL2 will handle situations in the dark/indoors your T2i would just choke in. Your images in low light will be 100% better due to this, and then more so due to the sensor.
No, not really, that’s a gross exaggeration. Digic is just the name of Canon’s camera cpu
Yes, but if you check the change log (and images across the web) you'll note that if you're a JPEG shooter, noise reduction got an overhaul in DIGIC6 which the T2i is pre-DIGIC6. That alone is big potatoes.
SL2 has better metering, AWB, JPEG sharpness, sensitivity in the center AF point. It can do DPAF video, has a fully articulating screen, the body itself is smaller and lighter.
The SL2 "beats" the T2i just across the board.
It's also pretty cheap "refurbished" which is often new, brown box overstock.
The new 18-55 f/4-5.6 IS STM lens is quite sharp btw. Do try to get one with the bundled lens. I'm not one for kit lenses but it's pretty good.
Consider the M50 with EF to EF-m Adapter
Although I agree with you that an M50 is an upgrade from a SL2, that's not what the OP asked (and may be outside the OP's budget I gather from the questioning of whether an SL2 is worth it implies perhaps the SL2 is already a financial reach for the OP).
Canon EOS M6 II
Canon EOS R3
Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM
Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM
Canon EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM
