CalNature…

My E-M1 Mk II kit came today around noon. After Stockton, it passed through Sacramento before being put on a truck back to Fresno.

Yesterday at 11:00 a.m. I sent the following message to FedEx:
"Original scheduled delivery was end of day on Fri Mar 1.
Package arrived Peach Springs AZ on Mar 1 at 7:00 p.m. Scheduled delivery date cancelled.
Package arrived Bakersfield CA on Sat Mar 2 at 6:02 a.m.
Package arrived Stockton CA on Sun Mar 3 at 5:04 a.m. Fresno is halfway between Bakersfield and Stockton, so why did package go to Stockton?
Package has not moved in the last 55 hours. [typo....should have been 54]
So, when am I going to get my package?"
At 11;24 a.m. I received a canned acknowledgement from FedEx that they received my message and were "routing it to the person at FedEx who is most qualified to answer." This was followed at 1:31 p.m. with a scheduled delivery for end of day today. The squeaky wheel gets the grease....that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So, FedEx missed badly on their first estimate, beat their second estimate, and still didn't break even in my book. Their goal is 1-5 business days for ground shipping and it took 8.

I am now in the process of setting things up. My E-1 was simple and quick to set up. My E-5 took some time, but wasn't too bad. The EM-1.2....well, I won't even make an estimate. It's a good thing I read the manual in my spare time over the past two weeks, so at least I had a clue about what to expect. My camera had version 1.3 firmware, so I had to update to 2.3, which meant I also had to update my 2016 version of Olympus Updater. I also downloaded the tethering software. I have used Olympus Studio for years for tabletop macro with my E-1 and E-5. I can't wait to try the new software with the E-M1.2.

Packaging from Olympus was hell for stout, including the strongest bubble wrap I have yet seen. The Oly boxes are quite nice also. The camera feels every bit as solid and rugged as the E-1 and E-5. With the 12-40, it is lightning quick to focus (I have only tried single point, S-AF so far). This camera blows my mind and you're getting an even better camera. Have fun with it.
