I use my TG-4 for mainly underwater shots and in RAW mode and currently use light room for all processing.

I have notice the Dynamic Range on these files is much less than my Nikon D7200 (which I would expect), but was wondering is there was a better processing solution for the TG-4?

Has anyone noticed a marked difference in RAW import/processing for the TG series?

Not really. The dynamic range of the small sensor is the limiting factor. TG-4 RAW files contains only slightly more DR than a 8-bit JPEG. The main advantage of RAW is processing options like correcting white balance.

I use both LR and DxO. I like DxO PRIME for noise reduction. But that only attempts to mask noise. You don't need to get much above base ISO before image noise starts to bug me. It helps to get a good initial exposure and not attempt to push shadows by multiple stops in post.

Capture One Pro supports TG-4, maybe give that a try. I get noticeably more DR shooting RAW and processing in C1 compared to OOC JPEG with C7070, but I can't promise you will experience the same with TG-4.

That's hilarious. The JPEG engine of the TG-4 is enormously more advanced than the ancient C7070. However, the TG-4 uses somewhat aggressive noise reduction. It's often possible to retain fine details when working from RAW files. The TG-5 finally added options to fine tune JPEG processing options.

Noise reduction, eww. I'd rather have C7070 JPEGs if that's the case. C1 does have noise reduction by default but thankfully it can be disabled.

Thanks,

I locked mine down to ISO 100 after shooting with ISO 200 on a Dive. Darks definitely seem to be the issue, however, I don't see much change when I use the Highlight slider either.

If the subject has some dark areas, they seem to resilient to any management. When the subject is well lit, I am pretty pleased.
