Re: E-M1 or GX8

I currently have both. The EM1.1 was my first MFT camera, to replace an aging E30, and it is a very nice camera, it handled and focused all of my FT lenses as well as the E30. Wanting to try more video I was looking for a Panasonic body ...GX8, G or GX85, etc. Found a used GX8 online for $550 4 months ago.

Very happy with the purchase, I still use the EM1 with the 50-200 SWD lens, but all of my Olympus MFT lenses work fine on the GX8.

I prefer the handling of the EM1, but that is likely because I have more experience with it. I do prefer the tilting display more than the GX8 articulating type, buts its a minor concern and not a big deal.

The EVF on GX8 is fantastic, but the grip could be a little deeper, again a minor issue. For me the EM5 and the EM10 were too small, and lacked a deep enough grip.

Both cameras are still very capable, both weathered sealed. Only guessing, but a used EM1.1 should be available for less than $500, probably closer to $400. A GX8 will be more..between $500-600.
