I shot film for several years -- 35mm and MF -- and prefer manual controls. I'm happy with the T2i for most situations -- don't shoot action, prefer landscape and macro. But, in any case, I see that the SL2 is fairly inexpensive and may be a worthy upgrade, however I'm not sure. Any info appreciated.

yes much better sensor much better dynamic range ...an improvement with ISO ..live view/video AF will be in a different league ...the kit lens will be much sharper than your old kit lens ...if you still use a kit lense . much bigger buffer .touch screan...5 FPS .the only thing that wont have improved to much is the AF

I don't use the kit lens. Currently use the 40mm STM and 60mm macro, good sharp lenses. I assume they would fit on the the SL2.

Yes they will work perfectly.  My favourite lenses on my SL2 are the 24mm pancake 40mm pancake 10-18 stm and the 60mm macro.

The SL2 is a wonderful small camera.
