Thanks for your responses! Now if you kindly could tell me how to set the camera to use one of these 35mm pk lenses...I mean which mode would be the best? I understand that I would need to set aperture on the lens, but if you could tell me how to do this, step by step, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you in advance!

Set the camera in "A" mode (Aperture Priority). Once you get proficient you may want to try using Manual (M) mode for "artistic" reasons, most if not all of the other modes will probably either revert to Aperture Priority or not work at all.

Choose an "average" sensitivity, probably 100-400 ISO to start with.

With the lens mounted and the aperture wide open (lowest number), focus on the subject.

Set the aperture to provide the required depth-of-field. With an electronic viewfinder (or rear screen) you'll probably not notice the image getting dimmer as it would on a DSLR with an optical viewfinder.

Check that the shutter speed the camera chooses is "sensible", that is to say not too slow so's to suffer from camera shake (less of a problem if mounted on a tripod), or not too high (flashing) if you're not stopping down very much. Either problem can usually be solved by adjusting the sensitivity (ISO). In the event of wanting to work with a wide aperture lens wide open in bright light you may need to fit a Neutral Density (ND) filter to prevent over-exposure.

Take picture.

Repeat!
