What happened to large aperture long lens?

I was just reading on:

  • 300mm F4,
  • 100-400 4.0-6.3,
  • and 140-400 F4.5.

All those lens are fantastic, especially Olympus.

However, It is hard not notice that there are no really fast long lenses anymore. Before we had:

  • 150 F2.0
  • 300 F2.8
  • 90-250 F2.8

And there were also 14-35 f2.0 and 35-100 F2.0 all of which were magical.

What happened that Oly decided not to make such fast zooms and tele lenses? IS on Oly cameras is really stellar, but to stop motion you do have to have fast shutter speeds, so I don't understand the logic.

Any insights appreciated.
