For those obsessed with high IQ Landscape shots with best sharpness/focus, what is your strategy?

I am just curious to see what others do for getting the best out of a camera in the field for landscape shots. I have been using the hyperfocal distance method i.e. focus at 1/3 of the scene and drop down the aperture, but I read posts here saying that the Merkingler method is better (focusing on distance object first).

  • Do you use Merkingler method or Hyperfocal or something else?
  • Do you use Focus bracketing to make sure everything is in focus and stack later?
  • Do you concern yourself with best aperture for sharpness?
  • Do you use the highest quality filters and have seen a difference between medium quality and high quality filters

Any other tips that you guys use would is also appreciated. I am yearning to learn from those passionate about getting the best image in field for a landscape pic.
