Some housings (usually the more expensive ones, but lately Meikon got in the game too) feature an opening where you attach a special valve, then use a pump to evacuate air from the housing some time before the dive. After you detach the pump, the valve monitors the pressure inside the housing, and if the seals aren't tight somewhere, air will leak in, pressure will rise, and the valve will warn you that there is a problem - if the air is getting in, then so will water at depth.
