One major difference I have noticed is that the GX8 runs quite warm, was using it for a few hours on friday eve and the camera got quite hot (not uncomfy but noticeable), whereas my GX85 never got warm.

Helpful on a cold winters day

Funny, but I never noticed my GX8 heating up.

On a more sensible note.

I think the GX80/85 is great. I did concider the GX9 but the price difference could not be justified.

I agree that Panasonic have a hole to fill. A direct replacement of the GX8 with the features of the GX80/85 but with the GX8's sensor and EVF plus maybe a flash

One would hope they’d include GX9 features, not features of a low-end model like the GX80/85.

What are the better features of the GX9, I realise sensor and EVF but what else?

I suppose Jeff is referred to people generally expected GX9 should be a successor to GX8, but not GX85.

However, it seems that except owners of GX8, this idea of premium class RF form factor might not have good enough market reception (at least not to me because of the size) and so, Panny return to upgrade GX7 (GX85 and now GX9) instead. A low spec RF that can keep smaller, cost less also for a better market.
