Hi there,

I'm new to the photography world and discovered this forum.

Recently bought a used 750d canon from 2016 with a one year warranty through insurance.

Everything is working normally, but I've been noticing that both batteries (2 original canon batteries) last very little.

I mostly use the viewfinder, rarely flash and even stopped from shooting RAW, from what i heard it drains more power. Only use the screen to control the settings basically. I also noticed that they tend to discharge overnight.

Can this be a problem with the machine itself or can it be from the batteries because they are already a little old (2 years) and lost power? I have already thought of buying a new one, but the originals of the canon are ~ 60 € and I am afraid to continue with the problem.

I'd first suspect that the 2-3 yr old batteries are degraded (p. 370 of the instruction manual). You might check how they register in the camera's Battery Info. menu ("wrench 3" menu, p. 348 of the instruction manual).

If you didn't get the instruction manual with your camera, it can be downloaded from Canon:

e.g. Canon UK: https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/cameras/digital_slr/eos_750d.aspx?type=manuals&language=
