I have had 3 Powershots, the latest is the 120. They have ALL developed this after a couple of years. Since it's not possible to clean the sensor like with a SLR, I'm forced to just live with it, spend big bucks and wait for a repair, or buy a new camera. I hate to continue this cycle, but I love the teensy size and light weight of these cameras, and of course, the RAW ability. Here's a recent illustration showing how bad it's getting. You can see the two big gray squiggles in the sky and at least two more on the earth. It's funny that Canon doesn't even mention this problem in their support area, at least that I can find. When I called about it two cameras ago, they said mail the camera in and they'd replace the sensor, and it would be weeks and cost big bucks.

What gets me is that it's clearly a sensor flaw and not dust. If it were dust it wouldn't look like this, I don't think. I don't shoot in bad environments much at all.

So I am thinking of getting a Canon G9x Mark II since this clearly needs replacement. Anybody have one and have feedback? Thanks!

This is not a sensor flaw.  It is in fact dust.

Best of luck to you!
