Dimage Viewer 2.37 and RAW files

I recently bought a KM A1 and it came with the software CD containing Dimage Viewer 2.37.  Last time out I made a few RAW images along with a bunch of Jpeg and a few Tiff images.  In Dimage Viewer, all but the RAW images show up.  I saw nothing in Dimage Viewer about RAW.  In Windows Explorer, the RAW images show up with placeholders, and the file number, in sequence with the other photos.  Today I downloaded a photo codec thinking that might help, but it didn't.  I use Windows Vista.  I downloaded the Adobe DNG converter, 11.1 or something, but it doesn't show up on my computer.  I think it is for Windows 7 and newer, but I tried it anyway.  Got the 388 megabyte file downloaded, then went through the installation process until it finished, but the program doesn't show up in my list of programs.  Seems to me that the Dimage Viewer ought to work with RAW files made with a Konica Minolta camera.  It came with the camera, but for some reason it won't work.  I normally use Photoshop Elements 2.0 for photo editing.  I opened that and looked in the recent folder of photos.  All but the RAW photos show up.  Somehow they show up in Windows Explorer, with place holders, but no other way.  Adding that codec changed the original place holders in WE to the icon for Dimage Viewer.  Clicking on one of them just switches to Dimage Viewer, with the RAW files missing.  Mystery.
