The fact that you can't see the camera on a Windows computer with the cable is puzzling to say the least. That would be a show stopper for me. You do understand that the camera must turned on to be visible in Windows ("This PC") and from experience, if you don't use it quickly, your camera will turn itself off, cutting the link. If you all did that correctly, I would question the camera itself (like a defective USB port). And I have never seen a single Canon camera not working with Windows 10 with a directly attached USB cable.

Of course, as you said on your other post, connecting the card directly to your computer will work and by the way, this is still the fastest way to transfer images. I still use that method when I have a large number of pictures to transfer. But your USB connection must work.
