I have the same set and it works. As you are using a zoom, you can adjust the magnification by zooming, just beware that it works in reverse - largest magnification is at the wide end (but the distance is the smallest) and the lowest magnification is at the long end but you can move the slide farther away from the lens. This also means you need less tubes to achieve 1:1.5 at the wide end.
Also, while those extension tube do enable AF it's of very limited use as it covers only a several millimeters in distance.

Edit - that lens is usually the best at the shorter focal lengths (20-35) but check your own copy.
