Here we have the real problem. Your wife want to use her smartphone, and you want your wife to use the M100. In these situations you will find your partner giving those "arguments" why the M100 is such a bad camera.
For now the argument is "the lens is not wide enough". I promise you: Once you solved that "problem" there will be another "argument." ("this lens is even bigger!" for instance) You can solve a whole list of "problems", but she will shoot with here phone, no matter what.
I would say: use the M100 yourself, otherwise just sell it. The 11-22mm is a nice lens for landscapes. You could just buy it for that purpose.
I think that if I look deeply into myself, I probably just wanted a portable landscape kit from the beginning
In that case, go for that 11-22mm!
