Hm, absolutely not my experience. This lens was was a stellar performer n my APS-C cameras.

If it's wise to invest in an EF-S lens or APS-C Canon SLR with the transition to mirrorless going on, is of course an other question.

you see, ef-s lenses are designed for guys with flat wallets--so we can discuss all we want, ef-s lenses will never be able to compete with canon "L" lenses' performance any investment in ef-s lenses with set you right behind the 8 ball sorry if you disagree with me.

Not sure if I get what you mean. However, I have no issues if we have different opinions. Re the 17-55 mm I can only talk about my personal experience. And for me it was a very good investment. It gave me a very usable zoom range and it was fast (for a zoom). Given all the photos I took and looking at the return in investment, it was a good buy. Though, it was a quite expensive lens.

While I think the optical quality (and pricing) was on L-level, the build quality certainly wasn't. But it wasn't worse than the cameras I used, so actually a good match.

I think Canon (and Nikon) missed the train to offer APS-C L-lenses for the 7D (D500) and give a bit more love to their crop sensor in general. This opened the door for Fuji and other to jump in and attract people who didn't want to go full frame.
