The advantage of this kind of viewer is primary for 3D panoramic images where the long narrow images are not easily viewed in a side-by-side format. On the other hand this is also the native format for 3D Blu-ray called "frame packing ". Can you provide a link to where you found these under/over 3D images?

Thinks for the link I was wondering what type of view was used to view this type of 3D image.
