They are two very different time spans in the world of technology and even markets. In the 5 year time frame, the X-system will still be as valid and innovative as it is today (IMO of course).

In the 10 year time frame, that is very difficult to predict because there will be disruptive technologies and consumer preferences that will come to the fore that may not be obvious now. Already we see consumers moving towards powerful mobile devices to take images for immediate consumption (via social media). Computational techniques will continue to broaden the appeal of smaller, simpler devices for taking images.

I suspect within the 10 year time frame, the number of mounts/brands in the market will either be consolidated (ie some fall away) or some will become niche.
