New to Macro

Hi as the header states I am new to macro but not new to photography.  I have been reading the posts on this forum for the last few weeks in order to try and get as much info as possible about set ups, lights/flash, rails etc.

Can anyone recommend a good book, website or other that I could learn from?

I have the Fuji XT2 and 60mm macro (0.5)magnification lens.  The XT2 had an firmware upgrade which now allows an image to be focus stacked (have not used this function yet) Does that mean that a rail would not then be needed? Are most images shown here focus stacked?

Last question, what is the benefit of on camera flash (if any) over a free standing lighting set up.

I plan to start with still life and through time progress from there. I have lots of time throughout the Summer to practise so would like to learn as much as possible prior to then.

Thanks
