FEs have very limited application topside, where most objects are linear in nature.   Below, it's mostly the opposite.   Get Closer greatly favors FEs and their extremely wide coverage, allowing you to get more within the short range of the strobes.  And most of it doesn't suffer from the distortion.

Rectalinear lenses require specific distances from the lens to the port.  Housing makes that don't offer port extensions to fit each lens are at a key disadvantage.

Considering that my dive trips are fairly far between and the dive time limited, I like photo gear adaptability - wide angle and macro on the same dive. Sure, I may have to compromise on the most desirable setup for any particular shot.

If we throw price considerations out, Nauticam has introduced Nauticam Macro to Wide Angle Lens 1, MWL-1.    For $1850, you do't have to choose.
