With any system where we are splitting hairs it comes down to the lenses. If you watch nigel danson's video of Medium Format versus his APC-S and full frame. The APS-C hold pretty tight to his huge prints but he notices the difference on the edges of the prints being soft. He claims this is because of the lens quality and the Fuji MF lens is one of the best out there.

My Personal Experience:

I noticed this as well. I had a 50-150 2.8 older sigma lens on the Quattro H. Shooting at 150 at 2.8 the resolution was much lower than my 16mp Nikon P1000. Yep that's how bad some lenses can be in not only sharpness but resolution.

After seeing this I am sold, Buy a system but Buy Better lenses and that trumps just about everything. That being said you will not find a sharper camera than the sigma's Pixel per Pixel they are the sharpest thing you can get.

I own the 50-150 f2.8 II and 150mm is it's worse focal length. It's excellent at 50mm and decent up to 100mm, but beyond that it starts to fall apart fast.

Pano stitches made with the SD1M and either with my 50 f1.4 A or 85 f1.4 A are excellent at f5.6. including the extreme corners making the stitching process easy, and are superior to any single shot 100mp camera.

Which is my plan also if I do get the SDQ with 30mm Art and 70mm Art. Right nw I am doing it with my 16MP MFT with 25mm prime and 45mm prime (essentially 50mm and 90mm eqv) with gorgeous results. I just want to make sure which gear I should focus on getting when prices come down further if and when the full frame foveon comes to be.

For years I used the 4.7mp SD14 and SD15 to make pano stitches using focal lengths varying between 70mm-200mm, depending on how big I wanted to print, with excellent results.

It just takes a lot more shots than a higher resolution camera which just takes more patience. Your present camera works fine and you really don't have to switch systems at all. Just add a good 100 or 200mm lens to your kit and be prepared to do panos with 50-100 shots and you can make a high resolution pano big enough to fill a wall like I have.
