I'm considering the 2 following options:
1) Replacing my Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 Pro with the Panasonic 35-100 f/2.8 mk2 mostly because of size and weight (for travel).
2) Replacing my Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 Pro + my Olympus 12-40 Pro with the Olympus 12-100 f4 for similar reasons i.e. total weight and size. What are your thoughts and suggestions?
I should mention that I have the PL 100-400 for telephoto purposes.
Option 2 sound like the best one for light weight and size. That one lens will replace 2.
But here's a better option. Keep all the gear you have now, because they are the best tools for everything but light weight compact travel. And get a GX85 with 2 kit lenses. That small compact form factor with the 2 kit lenses will cover all the range you need for travel. Add in a PanLeica 15mm f/1.7 for all your nightlife travel, and you'll be set.
I already have two bodies so I don’t see the point in buying another one. i also have two kit lenses i.e. Oly 12-50 and Oly 40-150, but I never use them because of the lower IQ than the Pro lenses I have. Also, i need to sell something to help pay for the new lens I would buy. It would be nice if I could keep everything, but I cannot.
If you sell off all your pro lenses, you'll won't get much, the cost of your loss will be greater than the cost of the GX85 with 2 kit lenses. And if you don't already have 2 MFT cameras, the GX85 can be a great 2nd camera when you go on safari, or shoot events where you need the 40-15 and the 12-40 at the same time.
Anyway you choose, it's painful to see you sell of those Pro zooms.
i know! Believe me!
