If you can get to go with f/4, then that is the best choice.

I should mention that I have the PL 100-400 for telephoto purposes.

Then get the 12-100mm, you get great match with that.

Sure you don't have a small and light like 12-40mm for general photography.

And you don't have that f/2.8 for 40-150mm range when needed or f/4 for 56-210mm when needed, but that 12-100mm does great combination.

Thanks for your opinion/analysis. It’s kind of what am thinking of doing. But I am afraid of missing the f/2.8 especially that I won’t be carrying a tripod.

I have the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8, the 12-100 f/4, and the PL100-400.

The 12-100 and the 100-400 make a great combo. I haven’t missed the f/2.8 of the 12-40 one bit, the Sync IS of the 12-100 is that good .... with both my E-M1 II and my Pen F.
