Vintage Dell XPS desktop

A friend was clearing out his excess PC stuff and asked if I wanted his 8-9 year old desktop for possible Linux use - including ViewSonic monitor, peripherals, etc. Not knowing what it was I said, "sure", thinking, "how bad could it be?".

Turns out it's a Dell Studio XPS 435T/9000 w/Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz on a Dell motherboard, Win 7 Home, 16GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4350/4550, 2TB HD, 450 watt PSU, etc in a big a$$ case.

He hadn't used it for 8-10 months (had to upgrade to run his VR setup) but it's very clean inside and out. Of course there were quite a few updates but after that it actually works very well (I think) for what it is. I installed the latest Manjaro in a partition as a test and it's pretty snappy.

Have done a fair amount of searching online about it, but some of you may have had this system, may still have it (in a closet) or remember it. I understand Win 7 is nearing end of life and wonder if it's worth upgrading to Win 10 (if possible). I'm planning to install an SSD in any case (for Linux at least) and was wondering if it's worth putting a better graphics card in it, although this one seems to work fine for now.

Any insight you might have regarding this old beast would be much appreciated. Thanks.
