Re: ***Mini Challenge #532*** Three Entries

Three shots from a visit to the National Railway Museums at York and Shildon...

Detail from the connecting rods of Locomotive 60163 Tornado. A Peppercorn Class A1 built from scratch by a group of rich enthusiasts between 1994 and 2008 and photographed in the Main Hall at York. She is the only Peppercorn class loco in existence, since British Rail scrapped all 49 of the originals in 1966 as they abandoned steam power. In April 2017 she became the first steam locomotive to officially travel at 100mph on a British track for more than 50 years. If it is at all possible for you to go to see this loco, do it! She is exquisite.

A snowplough - built in 1891 as No. 12 of a batch used by the North Eastern Railway before this company was absorbed into the London and North Easter Railway Co. [LNER] It lives at Shildon.

If you collect Railway signs and the like, you'd probably kill to get your hands on this - it's on the wall in the Shildon Museum and no other place on earth is entitled to put up such a sign.
