I'm still weighing the various options available as new for a Pentax mount long zoom. The 3rd party lens makers have little love to spare for the K mount and I keep finding myself returning to the above two options. They are similar in weight but not in range so I ask if anyone here has used both and can compare and contrast.

It would be easy to buy a Canon and open the door to a wide array of long zooms but i'm still partial to Pentax colors over Canon's.

The 150-450 was on sale but still above the price of the few new 50-500s still available, the lowest price of which I have found at $1200US here:

I found the AF to be a bit inaccurate and relatively slow (but usable) on the K-01. Has anyone paired the 150-450 & K-01 and can offer their opinion? Maybe the AF situation might be the same with that camera.

I haven’t tried particularly long lenses on my K-01 , but I have found the AF to be relatively slow , and sometimes hit & miss , compared to my K-1 and K-3 .

The K-01 does focus quickly and accurately in good lighting and with certain lenses like the DA Limited primes , but I often use it with my SMC-M legacy lenses , so AF is unimportant to me .
