After Lightroom, Photoshop CS6 was advertised as '64 bit'. But like your experience shows, not all of it is 64 bit. As far as I remember, only Lightroom and PS have been converted to 64bit until CC went subscription.

I think even now it's not fully 64bit. Adobe can't have that much time in improving their code base after counting all their money.

I have switched from PS to Affinity, and Lightroom to ON1 and DXO. DXO are working on a full featured DAM and will be released in the coming months, according to their forums. After using Lightroom on 2017 5K iMac then using ON1 & DXO, it was like a breath of fresh air. The speed increase. Wow! Lightroom viewing the library in a grid is slow as molasses (which I think is faster). My 2010 27" iMac was faster as it was not a 5K display. Lightroom has a lot of trouble dealing with ultra hi res displays. ON1, DXO, Luminar 3 doesn't. Hmmm

Why are we paying adobe again?
