Exactly why I bought a mint SD1 Merrill with 17-50 f2.8 recently (from ebay).

I then managed to get the Sigma 8-16mm new from Amazon UK for £381.12 recently. Not sure how their algorithm was working on that?

Very, very happy with this equipment. I won't be needing the expense or extra bulk of full frame.

I don't think there will be extra bulk in the Sigma full-frame camera vs the SD1 Merrill. It probably won't be more expensive either (as the SD1 Merrill when it was new).

Just FYI the original SD1 was much higher ($9,700) than the subsequently released Merrill ($3300 (street $2299)) version: https://www.dpreview.com/articles/5054743172/sigma-sd1-merrill-price-drop.

Whether the full frame will be cheaper than the SD1M at release I have no idea but I'm sure it will be cheaper than the original price of the SD1.
