Re: 2 years since this poll

I think that we are seeing the best possible outcome for the transition from an SLR dominated world to a mirrorless world.  It is obvious from the technology of the more expensive R lenses that have been released that Canon has been working on the R mount and mirrorless technology for a long time.  I suspect that mirrorless technology has a significant impact upon Canon's video camera line and its lucrative sales there.

That being said, I think that we have seen an interesting but imperfect first full frame offering from Canon in the EOS R body.  My problem with the body has to do with its lack of certain professional features that Sony has implemented so well in its similarly priced A7III.  I am quite satisfied with having to use an adapter on my existing Canon EF mount L lenses on either a Canon R mount or Sony E mount.  Right now the Sony seems to outperform Canon in mirrorless bodies.  I am hoping that Canon will release over the next 12-15 months a professional body has the same functionality in a mirrorless body that we are used to in our XD series of SLRs.  If that happens I will return to being solely a Canon shooter.  If not then I will begin to migrate to the more professional next generation of Sony professional bodies.   I really would like a global shutter in my next mirrorless body.  I don't need 20+ frames per second but 10 should be achievable.  I also want something in the 30+ megapixel range.   So I am still on the fence.
