Generally speaking, I don't think any camera manufacturer has a distinct line of cameras just for trying out new stuff. It costs too much for any manufacturer to have an experimental line. The GX line has been a line for rangefinder styled bodies for enthusiasts so naturally would have 'new' stuff.

Never said the GX8 was an aberration. At least it was never intended to be one. It just got so much bad press at the very beginning that it was dead on arrival and was never given a fair chance or any chance to succeed.
