I recall the above S5 Pro DR chart being discussed way back in the forum. It was confirmed that the S5 test results where based solely on the DR100 factory default setting which makes little use of the Super CCD R pixels. The graph should have included the DR400 measurements which would have been far more informative & representative of the S5's extended dynamic range.

DPR tested S5 Pro dynamic range at nearly 12 stops for JPEG with a smooth roll-off in both shadows & highlights. Not too shabby even by modern standards plus no harsh ugly highlight clipping.

Same with the new Fujis....all at DR100. We can test at DR400 for each as well...but the CMOS still stays ahead by the same spread because the noise floor is lower to start with. So the DR100 comment is irrelevant to the discussion...and the S5 still is behind current CMOS tech....DR, highlights and all.

Take a look at the old X-Pro1 and the DR and highlight range...Far beyond the S5.
