Not so! Perhaps u r confused by the fact that until (I believe) there last model, Nikon was using inferior 1" sensors (sort of like Canon:-).

I have owned several 1" sensor cameras, along w/ APSC. I'm on my 4th FF body.

While I generally prefer the m4/3 ones, i really don't see a whole lot of difference between the sony 1" sensors and ours. (<1stop) And i am hardly alone in this contention!

I never tried the RX100, so I won't know. From what I read my understanding is the Sone 1" sensor has seen huge R&D invest and these sensors are god as a result. I cannot help to ask...what would the M43 sensor be like when a one to one tech with the Sony 1" sensor?

Does it make the 1" format better?

Not necessary. M43 and 1" Nikon 1 has the advantage both were build from ground up not like APS which was a compromise.....
