Re: How is this a long story? And good for you!

For some the 1" cams will do just fine and I think a mirrorless series which would have gone full force, unlike the Nikon 1, would be very succesfull since the IQ out of the Sony 1" sensors is really good and at base ISO indistinguishable (to me) from the best mFTs. At higher ISO's there is a 2/3 stop difference may be compared to EM1.2 it is a bit more but that is nothing problematic.
I never tried the Sony or Canon 1" compacts is I cannot comment. What I did try were the Nikon 1 series secondhand. Had a chance to play with the V1 and in terms a more recent model the 1 J4. It's a great system and fun to play with. Noise seem to be the challenge on the 1" sensor. M43 seems be in a totally different league.
But we do not have such a system, so mFT is the cam with the smallest "large" sensor in an interchangable lens outfit out there. And luckily it has a very extensive line up and some very capable camera's. Let's hope the next year will see a new step up over what is currently available. To me Em1.2 is all I need and more, but to keep mFT viable as a system we need better and smaller, not bigger and better...
This is where Olympus needs to really invest and plan well. Its OK to hear about a EM1x and I trust Olympus will deliver something really interesting. Such a cam however is NOT what most Olympus users want.
I think balance of having a great format capable of delivering excellent results mixed with size is unbeatable today. People forget FF mirrorless cams is basically hanging a small body on the existing huge lenses. You still need the physical design to feed the large sensor unfortunately and one see it with FF offers.
Also the Pro range lenses are probably great, I have the 12-40mm and tried the 7-14mm (was just to big). Lenses like the f1.8 primes are awesome and a good 50-200mm f4 will also be awesome, especially of the 1.4x or later a 2x converter fits on there.
Another great body could be something like a Leica/Fuji concept, focus on manual dials and minimum selections or button operations to do something...
Finally I would recommend Olympus to become the web interface master. Everything and anything to have them dominate this space will become the future....
Best
