For digital photography SLRs are nearly ludicrous.

Seems a bit of an exaggeration over a missing D.

Well Mr. Hilifer, let me explain you the reasoning. Initially film SLR was a good design option to accommodate interchangeable lenses and assist focusing, even if extending the distance between the rear end of the lens and the film plane caused very serious design issues especially for the short focus lenses. Digital non-SLR cameras cause no problems of this kind. And, just for your info, I work in scientific research field with strong connection tho optics design area.

Old Bell Labs fellow still consulting AT&T Labs.

It certainly sounds like you are more qualified than I am to discuss this topic, but your social skills could use some polishing.

Technology Analyst / Anthropologist Hilfer,

anybody could see that in the previous note I addressed you "Mr. Hilfer" and politely explained my reasoning why SLRs are not so needy or great for digital photography.  No scientific or technical challenges from you, just a social incursion.

So, what kind social skills you have in mind – asinus lambendo?

Farewell.
