Hello. I can not find explanation anywhere what this option does. Am I right if I say that by enabling it in menu, the focal length changes to 13.7 ?

It's the camera setting for when the GW-3 wide-angle is attached. In the manual page 134.

Thanks. In my manual it's page 166, but it explains only how to attach the conversion lens. I was actually asking about enabling this option in the menu, without attaching anything. Once I've done it in the menu, Exif on Flickr shows focal length 13.7. Has the focal length really changed, or it's only trick ?

You're right the entry on 134 is really a Note to user telling them what to do when attaching the lens.

I would have thought the Exif entry is just the metadata. But I wonder whether the camera make other adjustments to the imaging engine needed to make the most of the GW-3. For example the counter-lens-vignetting feature might be changed when the GW-3 is attached. Someone else will have to answer that one.

The exif data is recorded correctly, nothing else. (I am often too lazy to switch it, not the best way to handle the lens changes)

It doesn’t adjust the image in any way or form. I believe in gr3 it will be different. My understanding is that the camera will automatically recognize the attached lens and also (possibly) apply some adjustments too. (According to speculations)

I recently bought used GW-3 for my GR II and found that the "Conversion Lens" option actually changes the way camera works in one important aspect: Snap Focus distance!

With a GW-3 attached and "Conversion Lens" set to "Off" the Infinity Snap Focus setting is OK, however closer Snap Focus distances are off, like, I set Snap Focus to 1 m and have things in focus that are 0,5 m away; set the distance to 2 m and the actual focus is around 1 m.

With GW-3 attached and "Conversion Lens" option set to "Wide", the Snap Focus distance starts to correspond to reality again. :-)

Just wanted to thank all concerned for this thread. It's been helpful to me - I have the Wide Conversion lens for my GR II but hadn't realized there was a Menu setting to select it.

Greatly appreciated.
