I believe the EF line has gone the way of FD and the dodo.

Of course, that's the eventual fate. But you think that Canon is cutting the cord right now?

yes. I believe so. if they go back to EF production in 2020, Olympic year, they have failed and I don't believe that will happen.

Canon has given us a glimpse of the lenses it can produce with the new mount, and they want us to upgrade to those lenses. those RF lenses are superior to current L lenses, and that's saying a lot.

Canon not only says no work will be done on EF lenses for 2019. they aren't offering a road map. the writing is on the wall.

also, I believe one day canon will kill EF protocol on its mirrorless body and of course they'll have a slick excuse as to why they are doing you a favor. I also believe we'll wake up one morning and adobe will have doubled the price of the creative cloud subscription. I know i'll be mad but i'll pay it.

I do not think that even they know where they will go in the near future.

Given what Sony and Nikon are doing (and have been doing), not to mention the wildcard of Panasonic FF, Canon might want to figure that out real quick.

They are playing a double game now and want to see where the wind will blow. CR posted some rumors indicating that.

Canon has been playing only against themselves.  They might want to take a look at the other players in the game.

Before they have a competent sports R camera, the big whites will be EF.

Those lenses, no doubt, are already in the works.  Aside from the Big Whites, I wonder if we'll see another EF lens from Canon.  Might be Tamron, Sigma, etc., who are the only makers of such lenses.
