I'm thinking about what happened when Olympus launched the E-M1. They said that the FT lenses should continue in production. What happened? Soon they started to make excellent lenses for the mft system like the 12-40/2.8 pro which was the first in their pro line. Ft lenses just disappeared. And they didn't make any DSLRs any more, although they had a high end model in the pipeline.

Same will probably happen with Canon. They will go entirely for the R system. They just don't say that loud yet.

yep. DSLR and EF done sailed. to produce more EF lenses or FF DSLRs would be an admission of failure. aint gonna happen.

Or require an admission that Canon is a big enough company to support multiple formats.

Well, Canon is now sporting EF, EF-S, M, and RF mounts.  Canon did little more than lip-service for the M mount, and were barely adequate with the EF-S mount.  So, it seems more than a little clear that maintaining even two mounts is a challenge for Canon.

At best, they'll put out a few more EF lenses, then call it quits on EF unless their RF mount fails.  But if RF fails, then I think the whole camera division of Canon will fail.
