Initial photos from a new KP owner (but not a new Pentaxian)

I just received my new KP body a few days ago.  It's the first literally 'new' camera I have bought in...decades.  And, based on initial results and subjective impressions, it's the best Pentax I have ever shot with.

My former Pentaxes include two Spotmatics (a Honeywell and an Asahi), two MX's and one ME-Super, a P30t (which I still have!) and a K200d (the second one I have owned, and a truly fine camera in its own right, but one which I am letting go now, simply because for me, the KP is better). I've always liked shooting with Pentaxes - they seem to have a very photographer-friendly 'feel' and my experiences with Pentax lenses and glass have always been good ones.

I've only taken a handful of shots with the KP but the results have far exceeded my most wildly optimistic imaginings and hopes.  Here is an available-light portrait, at my local barbershop, of a stuffed deer's head -

The original DNG converts nicely to BNW/monochrome

The next two were taken with my 10-17mm fisheye zoom, at the wide (10mm) end of the lens which also has surprising macro (close-up) focusing capabilities. Not quite as razor-sharp as a Limited prime, but a fine lens nonetheless.

The nice thing about the 10-17mm zoom is the AF - which works beautifully with the KP's extremely bright pentaprism viewfinder -

The last image was taken with the DA 21, a truly versatile lens with minimal bulk which seems to be semi-permanently attached (for the time being, at least) to the KP -

For me, the KP is a great camera - and, I really believe, the best in a long line of Pentaxes that I've used over the years.
