Re: a7RII+Meikon Case+ST-100 Strobe

I sent Nauticam a note asking if they sell their fo port separately. I suspect not, but we'll see. Other auxiliary fo port makers like Turtle have units with a laser diode embedded and an electrical connector coming out of it, so adapting to a custom fitting on the inside would be problematic. In that respect, the question is, "How do you intend to do the electrical-optical conversion?" That would determine how you design the inside section of the fitting. For example, would a diode have to be brought up close to it and fixed in place? The outside part is easy as it can be a simple hole to accept a fiberoptic cable.
I made measurements of the Meikon case connection area. It's a pretty large hole, so would require making a fitting to fit inside, preferably with a nut to hold it in place like the original Meikon fitting. But as mentioned above, its design would depend on the e-o conversion technique. Alternatively, and maybe more desirable, the Meikon electrical connector could be modified so as to retain their original double o-ring sealing; but in that case it would be wise to have a second connector as backup. I don't know if Meikon sells them separately.
Meikon case electrical fitting mounting area. Flats across the 0.914 flat area prevent the fitting from rotating as the inside nut is tightened. The recess flat and hole are o-ring seal surfaces, and two o-rings are used. Nicely done design by Meikon.
Yup, I'm thinking a system like Turtle has with the led window bulkhead. Unfortunately, looks like now it's not possible to adopt standard M14 connector on this housing (thank you for your inspection and measurement).
I found this cable gland connector on the internet, it's made from stainless steel but there are also alternatives from pvc, maybe it can be modified to adopt the Meikon mounting hole?
Installed a single led (with cable) on the cable gland connector
Using similar trigger circuit made by Triggerfish. The led with cable can be extend and installed in the new bulkhead connector
