i used these sorts of methods with a Canon hot shoe with good success.

I would start with microfibre cloth and move up from there. I just have a bad feeling about those small contacts.

+1 for the microfiber cloth (though very gently).

If that doesn't do it, I'd try a fine needle, a magnifying glass, very careful and gentle scraping, then blowing the dust off with a rocket blower.
