How important are dual card slots?

Interested in perspectives and experiences of those of you who've benefited from having dual card slots on your camera (or considered them superfluous!)

For my occasional photography gigs I like use a two-camera setup: currently an X-T1 on a neckstrap and an X-E2 on a holster.

I'm planning to acquire an X-T2 shortly as my main camera, partly because the dual card slots would give me some peace of mind on wedding shoots. But it got me thinking that perhaps my second body should have this feature as well.

How common are SD card errors in practice? And of those, how often is the data truly irretrievable?

I shoot using SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, which I assume to be very reliable?

Grateful for your input!

Jonathan
