Thank you, PS is no slouch for artefacts too, these were better than most of my PS stacks, I find if the 1. ideally the stack is made in 1 direction only and 2, there are few images.

I'm talking an auto blend stack with no extra masking or help, I tried complex flower structures above 10 images and thought PS would cherry pick the in focus parts much better, it leaves many eraser like smudges.

That's the advantage of specialised software. Number of images is not a problem with Zerene Stacker or Helicon Focus. They are both rather expensive though.

Video derived stacking JPEGS is very popular in astronomy, had not seen it used here - good show - it works well.

Brilliant example from Beatsy. I've never seen that done before.

Indeed, brother Beatsy has posted many fine examples , the defined structure, eye work is as you say, outstanding.

In contemplating the paradoxical but often superior hand held stack vis a vis a linear mechanical method, be it focus push or rail, me thinks the hand held method, at times, will have much better spread of 4 way average directional error whereas the rail etc has all error in one vector so they cannot " cancel each other out"

I found advanced stacking very tough sledding so my hat is off to you and Beatsy for these fine creations.

Here is the astro version, it has been very popular for years in the AA community.
