Opinions on Twin Macro flash kits?
2

One of my favourite forms of photography is insect macro. Currently I just use an sb700 flash to light my subjects but have wanted to purchase something like the Nikon R1C1 macro flash system. There are a couple of reasons why I haven’t yet purchased one, the main reason being price. I find it to be way overpriced. Another reason is the batteries. It’s really a shame that Nikon didn’t make it so that it uses AA or AAA batteries. Recently I’ve come across a similar system to Nikon’s but at a much more reasonable price and was wondering what your opinions would be.

Approximately a year ago Meike released the Meike MK-MT24 twin macro system that costs much less than the Nikon version and uses AAA batteries for the flash heads and AA for the commander.

I would love to know your opinions on using a macro twin flash kit for macro work. Are they worth the cost? Has anyone tried the Meike system?

Here’s a link to the Meike kit if anyone is interested...
