Tamron 17-50 AF - bayonet mounting ring wobble ?, focal length info?

Hi. First post in this group.

Just got a Tamron 17-50 - SP AF17-50mm F/2.8XR LD Ashperical (IF) Model A16NII via ebay. Nikon shooter.

I notice that what the 'manual' describes as the filter ring/hood bayonet attachment ring moves. some photos showing the movement.

Is this normal?

It doesn't seem connected to the lens elements so seemingly not an issue - sort of 'floating' on the end of the lens. Just a bit disconcerting that this piece at the front end has wobble/movement in it. Any filters attached would certainly then be liable to movement.

a separate Q about the same lens on Nikon D7200 and D3300 - the focal length displayed for a shot (ie playback on camera) does not match the actual focal length (e.g shots at 50mm the focal length info is 32mm. I guess this is probably a firmware / camera-lens communication issue?

thanks in advance
