After thinking this over and considerating the sage advice offered here, I've decided to go with the 100-400 instead of the 70-200 2.8 with TC. My reasoning is that my 24-105 already does much of what I would want from a 70-200 and I'll pick up the extra range with the 100-400. The final selling point for me that is I can also pick up a TC for the 100-400 which is very appealing!
