Adobe Camera Raw's highlight recovery goes an extra step and tries to reconstruct the detail and guess the color, rather than just leaving the recovered highlights as flat gray -- provided that not all channels were blown out. I think I remember that the color-guessing part requires that only one channel be blown out, but my memory isn't what it once was.
